An Introduction to Testing in Enterprise Architect
Filed under How To
With Enterprise Architect you have a great support for testing, cause EA allows you to creat test-scripts agains an element in the modeling environment. EA provides integrated test procedures within the base model. For each element four test types and general searching and reporting on tests status are supported.
By using following steps you can easily access the test dialog:
Open the Test Cases docked window by selecting the View | Other Windows | Testing menu item.
Open the diagram that holds the element you want to view the test script for.
Select the element and all of the test scripts for that element will appear in the Test Cases docked window.
The Testing Workspace
The testing workspace of EA provides you a quick and practical method working with element tests. By selecting an element in a diagram or in the Project Browser, all lists of tests for that element are already loaded and ready for modification or addition.
To edit details, double click on a line item – that will bring up the testdialog. Within this mask you can also delete the test.

While Enterprise Architect can perform some testing functions we at Catch limited have extended the testing functionality by developing Enterprise Tester ( http://www.enterprisetester.com ) that is a web based test management tool that automatically generates test cases from UML diagrams.
Enterprise Tester also integrates with Atlassian’s JIRA for issue management giving you an end-to-end solution that has as good, if not better features that compete with other much higher priced tools.
Check out the website for further information and to download a free 30-day trial.
Addtionally, for all you HP Quality Center users we have also developed EA Connector to QC ( http://www.eaconnector.com) that synchronises EA requirements and Use Cases with HPQC giving you an end-to-end solution that minimises the error rates in transferring the information for EA to QC and speeds up the SDLC process saving time and money for every project you run.
